Fire risks

Recent weeks have seen Milton Keynes experience prolonged periods of hot, dry weather, creating ideal conditions for grass fires and wildfires to start and spread. 

Dry grass, crops and woodland can ignite easily, and when combined with windy conditions, fires can travel quickly across open land threatening homes, businesses, farmland and wildlife habitats.

While many people enjoy spending time outdoors during warmer weather, simple actions can make a significant difference in helping to prevent fires. 

Discarded smoking materials, unattended barbecues and litter left in open spaces are among the most common causes of outdoor fires. By taking a few extra precautions and acting responsibly, residents and visitors can help protect our City and the surrounding areas and reduce the likelihood of preventable incidents.
